Storm Fate Review
While no longer in production, the Storm Fate remains a solid option on the used market for bowlers seeking Jason Belmonte's signature ball with strong backend motion. The ReX Pearl coverstock delivers the angular response serious tournament players demand.
so here at Highland Lanes today I'm going to be rolling on the house shop it's fresh so we'll see what we've got we're going to try the new balmo fate ball it's a uh I think it's like two five three oh fifty two uh it's got the Rex pill cover stock on it so I'm looking forward to it I've had a lot of success with the night road so far there's going to be a link in the description below uh the uh the Fate is available uh November 18. um if you click the link in the description below and buy it from bowlersmart me and Chris
will make a little bit of money and uh that's the best way to support us and help out the channel I hope you enjoy it if you've got any questions ask below which is your favorite Brown mobile so far so let me know and let's get going okay fade review well we're on the house shop we've got a couple of games on it my uh my fate has the kind of standard symmetrical layout of five and a half by four by three
into the night Road I feel like I can play a little further right with this one I'm not sure that it's going to be the right way to use it I think this is screaming out to be able to open up the lane but with the lower RG it should dig in a little bit more [Music]
I haven't really had that much chance to use this yet I've had the ball for about a week a couple of times I have used it it's been the third game of League and I've had her my lay down and break point really separated so ask this video as this game goes on we'll try a little few more shots and give you a few different angles
but typically when I'm bowling here at Highland this is really the area I like to play um kind of somewhere between 20 and 10 is to lay down or as the arrows rather and then like really I don't like getting it much past six um I feel like the straighter you can kind of go here the batter usually the carry seems to be much better
this wasn't actually a way that I really thought about using this for um usually this would be a um this would be the Zen that I'd be using in this Gap um I feel like this gets through the front a little bit cleaner than the Zen I mean the RG being like two five three it's oh 252 sorry it's definitely going to help with that as opposed to the 247 on the van
but yeah that's pretty nice I like the uh I really like the way the the racks cover it like digs in the oil more than r2s so like for me it'll be interesting over the next few weeks trying to see where the fate and the um and the phase five fit together so far the fates look like it's got much more pop down the length for me than the phase five
oh there we go see you even get some of those uh good balmo breaks so that's the front six so far so let's see how far we can get into this um I would say that this is definitely going to be a ball for me that fits underneath the Zen um I do separate them by layout though the Zen I drilled about half an inch stronger than this
but I feel like that's that's Rex cover I'm really impressed by it you might have if you ever watch the show uh the beef and Barnsley show Tuesdays and Thursday mornings um you'll see me and Chris talk about it a lot um especially with the infinite physics that's one of our real that's definitely one of our big favorite I must recommend balls
ah didn't quite roll that one very much but yeah and after I really like the night Road as well so for me I'm intrigued to see where I can fit this fate in between them the Fate comes with the new reactor gloss finish I just touched that finish a little bit with uh with a kind of a used 2000 pad
so really didn't hit it very much I just wanted to put a few lines in it because the night Road comes um comes at 4K fast and the uh the infinite physics comes with the 4K red just regular 4000 finish so I feel like this cover really benefits from a little bit of surface
and it's definitely clean enough still to get through but I think it makes an absolute monster in the back sort of 35 feet of the lane [Music] well that was left whoopsie I've done a house shot not quite what you're after there what a bad way to finish this let's see if I can make this foreign bellmo
so 240 five yeah 2 45 and open the 10th okay let's see what happens if we open up the angle a little bit and get our hand around it so I'm gonna move ten boards left with my feet thank you
maybe that was a little ambitious I think I'm going to stay in the same spot throw it a little slower see what it does um so there we go um [Music] I do feel on this house shot that like
maybe a solid version of this would be better [Music] um we have quite a lot of oil in the middle of the lane here [Music] yeah so it just gets behind it a little bit okay so um that was the first look at the belmo Fate by uh storm um 245 with that uh silly washout in the uh
in the 10 frame uh I was pretty impressed that I could go that straight with it I understand that that wasn't straight straight but to be but to be able to get through the front part of the lane and just keep it online like that and kind of ride the oil line I think gives me a little bit more optimism about being able to use it earlier in blocks than I thought um I definitely think this is going to be a transition monster on the the uh the medium patterns um as you uh you know you get out of that first couple of games was like say
an infinite or a rally or even a phase two and then they start to get a little lazy I think that rather than going to the Zen which might only be in play for a couple of games for me maybe I'll be able to cheat and go to this and really use this for like maybe the last four games of those blocks so um excited about it it's available November 18th so let me know what you think um is belmo on to a winner this time um I I'm I'm really happy so um let's see what it is hopefully we can
see some more balls with this Rex cover on maybe even a solid or a hybrid version that would be exciting um look out for the video by Chris as well that'll be on the channel as well so all right take it easy guys have a good one bye foreign
Performance Analysis
Performance Analysis
Testing revealed the Storm Fate to be a versatile midrange option that performs distinctly between symmetric-core competitors in its class. On a fresh house shot with medium oil, independent reviewers observed that the ball’s lower RG (2.53) produced noticeably cleaner motion through the front part of the lane compared to similar offerings, allowing for straighter line play while still maintaining defined backend reaction. The Reactive Pearl coverstock delivered measurable hook potential in the oil pattern, with testers noting strong pin action and carry when the ball reached the backend around the 35-foot mark. Surface finishing proved important during testing—reviewers lightly textured the factory gloss finish with a 2000-grit pad and found this adjustment significantly improved midlane response and backend pop without sacrificing front-end control, suggesting the Fate benefits from minimal surface preparation rather than shipping out-of-the-box.
Comparatively, the Fate positioned itself as a transition tool within block play. Testing showed it responded well as oil patterns broke down after the first few games, filling a practical gap between heavier benchmark balls and stronger symmetrical designs. Reviewers appreciated its ability to ride oil lines effectively and maintain entry angle through the pins, making it suitable for extended play in the latter stages of medium-pattern blocks. One notable observation: testers experimented with different layouts and hand positions, discovering the ball performed best when played relatively straight rather than aggressively angled, which speaks to its core design and cover interaction on house conditions.
Who Is This Ball For?
The Storm Fate is best suited for house bowlers and league players who need a dependable midweight symmetric option for medium oil conditions. It fills a legitimate role for bowlers who already own benchmark pieces (like stronger solids or high-RG balls) and want to add a cleaner-reading alternative that bridges the gap between early and late-block play. This ball will appeal particularly to bowlers who prefer straighter shot angles and value consistent midlane read without excessive length.
This is not an equipment piece for power players seeking aggressive motion or those rolling exclusively on fresh, heavy oil. Similarly, bowlers satisfied with premium symmetric lines may find limited reason to add it to their bag. However, for competitive house league players managing multiple games per night and transitioning between fresh and broken-down patterns, the Fate represents smart equipment economics—offering legitimate performance gains at a reasonable price point without requiring extensive surface manipulation to be effective.
